I heard one on the radio Sunday (country music again - they have the great lyrics ) about a girl and her father and letting go - of course letting go has different meanings at different stages in their lives, until it's time for him to depart this earth. I'll have to look it up - it's a great song about a daughter's relationship with her dad and made me think about my daddy.

Crystal Shawanda Lyrics - You Can Let Go

Wind blowin’ on my face
Sidewalk flyin’ beneath my bike
A five year-old’s first taste
Of what freedom’s really like
He was runnin’ right beside me
His hand holdin’ on the seat
I took a deep breath and hollered
As I headed for the street

Chorus
You can let go now, Daddy
You can let go
Oh, I think I’m ready
To do this on my own
It’s still .. it still feels .. a little bit scary
But I want you to know
I’ll be ok now, Daddy
You can let go

I was standin’ at the altar
Between the two loves of my life
To one I’ve been a daughter
To one I soon would be a wife
When the preacher asked,
‘Who gives this woman?’
Daddy’s eyes filled up with tears
He kept holdin’ tightly to my arm
‘Till I whispered in his ear

Chorus
You can let go now, Daddy
You can let go
Oh, I think I’m ready
To do this on my own
It’s still .. it still feels .. a little bit scary
But I want you to know
I’ll be ok now, Daddy
You can let go

It was killin’ me to see
The strongest man I ever knew
Wastin’ away to nothin’
In that hospital room
‘You know he’s only hangin’ on for you’
That’s what the night nurse said
My voice and heart were breakin’
As I crawled up in his bed, and said

You can let go now, Daddy
You can let go
Your little girl is ready
To do this on my own
It’s gonna be a little bit scary
But I want you to know
I’ll be ok now, Daddy
You can let go
You can let go

Ok...I am crying!!! bawling is more like it...This soooo reminds me of actually my SIH and my dear Brother. Though she wasn't his daughter but his very loving caring wife...my dear Brother did not let go until she told him he could...Funny too I have been thinking about that alot this week, of how I wanted to do a LO for my DGD about her Great Aunt Tessie and how she cared for my Brother!!!

Maggie...I am a crying, bawling mess...and I have to go to work!!!

Yes I couldn't agree more, Country Music has the Great Story Lyrics for scrapbooking, but I don't listen to Country at all, thus I couldn't figure one a song to get this going again...so thanks for the great "Emotional" Song!!! It really is a good one!!!

{{{Hugs}}} Christine! It's been 5 years since I lost my Daddy and a little over 4 since I lost my sister, and it still hurts! And I miss both of them - lots!
